Mar Mon 2024
The Xiangxi Women’s Folk Customs Exhibition was launched in the Liye Qin Slips Museum in Longshan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on March 8 to celebrate the 114th International Women’s Day, showcasing women’s contributions in art and cultural life.

This exhibition will last for three months, presenting visitors with a unique and meaningful visual feast.

The 34 pieces of exhibits in this exhibition are all from the collection of the Liye Qin Slips Museum, donated and collected by the public. Although they are not works of famous artists, they embody days and nights of hard work of women and their busyness in the afternoon. Each work is full of respect for the elderly and deep affection for children, with the simplicity and profound meaning of folk art.

In traditional folk art in our country, women’s daily customs play a crucial role, and there are a large number of cultural relics related to production, home furnishings, clothing, etc. in women’s daily lives, showcasing women’s creativity and wisdom in art, culture, and life, reflecting women’s status and value in traditional society.

Traditional textile processes such as silk weaving, wool weaving, linen weaving and cotton weaving, as well as folk arts like embroidery, paper cuttings, and wax printing, combine women’s beautiful artistic temperament and folk customs.

According to the Liye Qin Slips Museum, the exhibition not only showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of women, but also makes the public further understand women’s daily lives and their pursuit of beauty. It aims to display the unique contributions of Xiangxi women in art, culture, and life, and also show great respect to women.
